Primary Objectives
The Cattle Technician II is a key line-level position responsible for management and supervision of stocker calves and cow-calf daily operations.
This role plays a strong commitment to understanding and embracing the Poarch Creek Indians Values of Perseverance, Opportunity, Accountability, Respect, Culture, and Honesty.

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for supervision and leadership of farm workers in the cattle operation of the farm in the absence of the Director-PRF.
  • Applies animal husbandry practices, including the application of medication, vaccinations, or insecticides as appropriate, castrating, and branding for 900+ herd.
  • Assists with worming and administering medicine for the cattle.
  • Assists in tagging newborn calves with information tags.
  • Assists in preparing the cattle for sale.
  • Examines animals to detect diseases and injuries; assists in birth deliveries.
  • Selects and breeds animals according to knowledge of animals’ genealogy, characteristics, and offspring.
  • Feeds, waters, and maintains cattle on a routine daily basis.
  • Performs minor repair work on fences, buildings, and equipment.
  • Maintains tools and equipment for operational readiness.
  • Operates tractors and other machinery deemed necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate person.
Job Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Six (6) years’ verifiable employment experience in leading cattle production operation required.
  • Experience in management of large cattle herds and stocker calf operations required.
  • Must have knowledge of general medications and vaccinations.
  • Ability to work odd and irregular hours, as needed.
  • Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check.
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license and insurable driving record according to Tribal insurance guidelines. Class A CDL preferred.
  • Ability to travel and participate in required training, leadership development, and other events.
  • Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities of this position adequately and successfully.

Compensation and Benefits
  • The starting pay will depend on factors such as experience level and skillset.
