Primary Objectives
The Transportation Provider is a key line-level position responsible for providing transportation services, both locally and out-of-town, to and from medical appointments for eligible Tribal Members, based on established eligibility criteria. This job description is not an all-inclusive list of the duties and responsibilities of this position. PCI Employees are expected to perform all duties and responsibilities necessary to meet the goals and objectives of applicable programs and departmental objectives, as assigned.

Essential Functions
  • Provides compassionate, caring, and reliable transportation for eligible Tribal Members to their non-emergency doctor appointments, testing centers, hospitals, and other medical-related appointments safely and on time.
  • Operates vehicles in a safe, responsible manner and educates passengers in good safety habits, such as the use of seat belts.
  • Provides transportation services for the Elder Services Division and other tribal functions as needed.
  • Identifies and requests repairs or maintenance for any mechanical issues noted in the vehicles.
  • Ensures routine vehicle maintenance is scheduled and documented.
  • Ensures the cleanliness of the transportation assets and performs routine cleaning as determined necessary for the safety, health, and well-being of those being transported.
  • Maintains an acceptable driving record, as required for the Tribal insurance guidelines
  • Communicates effectively with the Manager-Elder Services for any/all transportation services and related functions.
  • Maintains a centralized calendar of scheduled appointments.
  • Performs daily functions and assignments and adheres to all confidentiality guidelines regarding patients’ needs, records, and conversations that the transportation provider may be witness to.
  • Reports any concerns or evidence of abuse, neglect, and health or safety risks to the proper authorities and the Manager-Elder Services immediately upon discovery.
  • Assists in disseminating tribal resource information and linking transportation clients to tribal resources as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate person.
Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One (1) year related employment experience in the transportation field preferred.
  • Must possess certification of “Mandatory Reporter Training” or obtain certification during the first week of employment.
  • Must maintain current CPR and First Aid certification or obtain certification within ninety (90) days of the date of hire.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record according to Tribal insurance guidelines.
  • Ability to work odd and irregular hours, as needed.
  • Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check.
  • Ability to travel and participate in required training, leadership development, and other events.
  • Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities of this position adequately and successfully.
Core Competencies Required
  • Must maintain absolute confidentiality.
  • Must be in good physical condition with the ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, and twist for an extended length of time as well as climb, lift, hold, and move objects weighing a minimum of fifty (50) pounds. Must be able to load/unload wheelchairs and patient mobility equipment.
  • Adept at multi-tasking, have unquestionable integrity, with an uncompromising commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and to relate effectively with the public.
  • Must possess good organizational, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Ability to remain engaged until assignments are completed and overcome obstacles.

Compensation and Benefits
  • The starting pay will depend on factors such as experience level and skillset.
