The Senior Buyer is responsible for procuring goods and services, managing the department’s vendor system, and supporting procurement operations. This role may include additional duties as needed to meet program and departmental goals.

About the Role:
The Senior Buyer is responsible for procuring goods and services, managing the department’s vendor system, and supporting procurement operations. This role may include additional duties as needed to meet program and departmental goals.

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with tribal, federal, and state procurement regulations.
- Review and improve procurement policies and processes.
- Support the Director of Procurement with efficiency and compliance initiatives.
- Source high-quality goods and services at competitive prices.
- Manage and maintain the vendor management system and records.
- Evaluate vendors, conduct reference checks, and support vendor selection.
- Prepare and manage bids, RFPs, and contract negotiations.
- Review requisitions, analyze quotes, and issue purchase orders.
- Monitor contracts, deliveries, and supplier performance.
- Maintain procurement records and resolve discrepancies.
- Track market trends, pricing, and supplier reliability.
- Supervises assigned staff and monitors divisional work productivity.
- Must have one of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, or a related field with four (4) years of employment experience in purchasing supply-oriented activities
- Combination of education and employment experience in purchasing supply-oriented activities equivalent to eight (8) years.
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience, preferably in the areas of purchasing, procurement, or inventory management required.
- Ability to work odd and irregular hours, as needed, including all assigned events.
- Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check.
- Ability to travel and participate in required training, leadership development, and other events.
- Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities of this position adequately and successfully.
- Ensure timely delivery and quality standards are consistently met.
- Collaborate with suppliers, departments, and stakeholders to define needs and pricing.
- Identify and implement process and policy improvements.
- Adapt communication style to different situations and audiences.
- Ability to identify root causes and easily overcomes obstacles.
- Must be people oriented, relate well to people from diverse backgrounds, and possess respect for others. Serve as a role model.
- Must possess character that earns the confidence of program participants, aspire to your highest self, and serve as a cultural ambassador to others.
