About the Role:
The Tribal Police Officer patrols the community, responds to complaints, enforces laws, makes arrests, serves warrants and subpoenas, and testifies in court, all while ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the Tribal community. This role may include additional duties as assigned to support departmental and program goals.

The Tribal Police Officer patrols the community, responds to complaints, enforces laws, makes arrests, serves warrants and subpoenas, and testifies in court, all while ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the Tribal community. Key Responsibilities:
- Duties may vary; not all responsibilities are listed
- Enforces Tribal, Federal, and State laws, including arrests and traffic control
- Patrols assigned areas to maintain safety and prevent crime
- Responds to calls, complaints, and emergency situations
- Conducts investigations, gathers evidence, and works with investigators
- Serves warrants and civil process
- Prepares accurate, timely reports
- Testifies in Tribal, State, and Federal court
- Works independently with found judgment under pressure
- Performs additional duties as assigned
Core Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Two (2) years of employment experience as a certified police officer required.
- Must possess an Alabama Peace Officer Commission certification for law enforcement.
- Must obtain BIA Special Law Enforcement Commission (S.L.E.C.) within twelve (12) months of date of hire.
- Must obtain other related commissions as identified and required after official date of hire in this position.
- Must be in good physical condition with the ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, and twist for an extended period of time as well as climb, lift, hold, and move objects weighing a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.
- Must maintain the ability to testify in Tribal, Federal, and State Court (no Giglio restrictions permitted).
- Must meet approved age, mental, physical, and medical requirements set forth by the Alabama Police Officers Standards and Training Commission and the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
- Ability to work odd and irregular hours, as needed.
- Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check.
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license and insurable driving record according to Tribal insurance guidelines.
- Ability to travel and participate in required training, leadership development, and other events.
- Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities of this position adequately and successfully.
